Maternity and Newborn Photography in Utah: Why These Two Sessions Belong Together
Two beautiful chapters. One incredible story.
Pregnancy is funny, isn't it?
One minute you're counting down the weeks until you can finally meet your baby. The next, you're looking back at photos wondering how that tiny person ever fit inside your belly.
And somewhere between swollen ankles, midnight snacks, and wondering if you'll ever sleep comfortably again, you're growing an entire human.
That's pretty incredible.
As a maternity and newborn photographer in Syracuse, Utah, I get to document two of my favorite chapters of motherhood: the anticipation of meeting your baby and those unforgettable first days together.
And while each session is beautiful on its own, there's something extra special about capturing both.
Your Maternity Photos Are About More Than Your Bump
I know. Not every pregnant mama feels like a glowing goddess.
Sometimes you feel amazing. Sometimes putting on actual pants feels like an Olympic event.
But here's what I want you to remember:
You don't have to love every minute of pregnancy to deserve beautiful photographs of it.
Maternity portraits celebrate everything your body is doing and the little person you're already loving.
Whether we're photographing you in a beautiful outdoor Utah location or creating something timeless and intimate, I'll help with posing and direction so you can relax and enjoy the experience.
Then Comes the Best Introduction Ever
A few weeks later, that baby you've been dreaming about is finally here.
The tiny toes. The fuzzy shoulders. The little expressions that somehow already look like yours.
Newborn photography captures those details before they change.
My newborn sessions are gentle, baby-led, and thoughtfully styled. We plan around your preferences, and I take care of the posing and details while you enjoy a little time to relax.
And yes, I absolutely want you in some of those photos.
Because someday, your baby deserves to see just how loved they were from the very beginning.
When Should You Book Maternity and Newborn Photos?
For maternity photography, I generally recommend scheduling your session around 30-36 weeks of pregnancy, when your bump is beautifully visible but you're hopefully still feeling comfortable enough to enjoy the experience.
For newborn photography, it's best to reach out during your second trimester or early third trimester so we can plan ahead and reserve priority availability around your due date.
You don't have to predict baby's birthday. Once your little one arrives, we'll arrange your newborn session.
A Little Perk for Booking Both
Here's something expecting moms love:
When you book a Full Newborn Experience with Em J Photography, your $150 maternity session fee is waived.
It's my way of making it a little easier to document both chapters.
Portraits and artwork are selected separately, and we'll go through all your options during your complimentary consultation.
